On The Last Airbender Teaser...

It looks....



Less than awesome.

I saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (<3) on opening day and the teaser for M. Night. Shymalan's next movie was attached.

I've been following the absurd drama about "racebending" (I.e. making Asian and Inuit characters White or Indian) and I can't believe how this franchise is already alienating the built in fanbase this movie could have.

I'm not worried, though.

Last time I checked...the awesome show it was based on was canceled. And despite its somewhat weak ending (NO BENDING FOR YOU!), it was a great show with a unique look and story all its own. Part of the awesomeness of Avatar is that it is animated. You can do anything in animation and it looks believable to a certain extent. I'll believe a giant bison can fly and that Airbending looks cool. However, once everything gets translated to live action...it looks...cheesy.

There.

I said it.

I looks cheesy...okay? Especially when Zuko is played by that guy from Slumdog Millionaire.

I gotta say, when "Aang" pulls his hood off to reveal a little boy with an arrow tattooed on his head after doing some magic kung fu to snuff out some candles with air...it just looks kind of laughable....then it gets hilarious when the camera pulls back to reveal AN EPIC FIRE NATION NAVY storming the temple he's training in...complete with lots of Fire Nation soldiers climbing up the cliff face after him.

Oh, Snap! Look out, little Avatar! Fire Nation is going to get you!

Unless the actual trailer looks good, I'm waiting for Netflix.
